Hua Hin

🏍️ Road Trips 📍 Hua Hin

Rob's take

"Round the head of the gulf and about five hours by road, which makes it an overnight or a long weekend and never a day trip. It's the anti-Pattaya: a royal resort town that has stayed sedate, with a long beach, the old wooden railway station and a seafood night market. Worth doing once for the contrast, if only to see what this coast chose not to become."

Hua Hin is a road-trip destination in Hua Hin, within the greater Pattaya area of Chon Buri, Thailand.

Hua Hin is a royal resort town on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand, roughly 400 km from Pattaya by road around the head of the gulf, so it works better as an overnight trip than a day out. The draw is a long sandy beach, the wooden railway station with its royal waiting pavilion, and a night market known for seafood. Thai monarchs have summered here since the 1920s, and the town keeps a more sedate feel than Pattaya.
