Rob's take

"Five hours each way from Pattaya, so this is an overnight paired with Bangkok or nothing at all. Come for the evening rather than the afternoon, when the stalls are all trading and the longtail boats run out to see the fireflies, which is the bit people actually remember. It's more fixed seafood restaurants than food boats these days. Closed Thursdays."

Amphawa Floating Market is a road-trip destination in Samut Songkhram, within the greater Pattaya area of Chon Buri, Thailand. It's rated 4.3★ on Google. Open 2:00–9:00 PM daily except Thursday.

A canalside market in Samut Songkhram Province, Amphawa trades from mid-afternoon into the evening along a stretch of old wooden shophouses. Grilled seafood, Thai desserts and souvenir stalls line the walkways, while longtail boats run out to nearby temples and, after dark, on the firefly tours the market is known for. It is closed on Thursdays.
